Festival Cumplicidades – More dance on Portuguese stages

CUMPLICIDADES is a festival dedicated to contemporary dance centered on the principles of reinvention and diversity. Promoted by EIRA, artistic structure with 25 years of existence, the festival counts on a pair of different programmers each edition. It stands out for always seeing its programmatic line renewed and also being a partner with traditional and alternative venues. These characteristics bring with it the possibility of extending throughout the Lisbon map a community constituted by a new audience, created by the intersections of the different publics and spaces.

The Festival was awarded for the second consecutive year with the EFFE 2017-2018 label, which distinguishes the best festivals in Europe for their commitment to art, community and European values.

The 3rd edition of CUMPLICIDADES, from 10 to 16 March, has 7 national performance per day, presented during 7 consecutive days, in 7 distinct spaces (Rua das Gaivotas 6, Teatro da Trindade, Negócio, Espaço Alkantara, Teatro Ibérico, CAL – Centro de Artes de Lisboa and Biblioteca de Marvila), in a total of 49 sessions. The International Project consists of 7 variations of the performance, for 7 consecutive days, in the 7 distinct venues of the Festival. In the end wil there will be 56 sessions concentrated in a single week of Festival.

This peculiar format of presentation proposed by the invited programmers of the Compliances 18 – Tânia Carvalho and Abraham Hurtado – appeals to a greater representation of the dance on the Portuguese stages and it contradicts the (too) short careers.
